Staying home leaving violence

Project Status: Archive
People Involved: Deb Brennan
Research Areas: Policy Design, Impact & Evaluation
Funding Agency: NSW Human Services - Community Services

NSW Community Services has funded the Social Policy Research Centre to conduct a small-scale qualitative study of women’s experiences leaving domestic violence relationships and their use of the Staying Home Leaving Violence services. Staying Home Leaving Violence supports women and their children to remain safely within their own home, with the violent offender being removed by the police and local court. The study explores women’s safety and housing experiences, and examines how services can enhance safety. The study is being conducted by Robyn Edwards of SPRC, who conducted the original research for the Australian Domestic and Family Clearinghouse. This current study will inform the development and implementation of the Staying Home Leaving Violence program throughout NSW.
