Research Topic: Learning to Live: Exploring the lived experience of lifelong learning for adults with intellectual disability
Supervisors: Professor Kelley JohnsonProfessor Karen Fisher

This is a qualitative, multi-site, ethnographic study, which explores the different lived experiences of lifelong learning for 10 adults with intellectual disability who are recipients of NDIS funding. Perspectives of adult learners and those who support the lifelong learning experiences are examined, using data collected from interviews and participant observation undertaken in two different learning contexts. In the first context, adults with intellectual disability receive individualised support to learn new skills in their homes and communities. The second context allows for the examination of a workshop style learning experience for residents of group homes who learn about the changes and processes occurring with the roll-out of NDIS funding.
