Description: This thesis explores the place of Volunteer Home Visiting in a continuum of service provision and care for families. In Australia, as well as internationally, the past two decades have seen intensified interest and policy support for early intervention for vulnerable families especially in the post-natal period. These interventions include a variety of under-researched Home Visiting models, one of which provides support by a volunteer under the auspice of a not-for-profit organisation funded by government. Based on the perspectives of participants themselves, this thesis contributes new evidence and a theoretical understanding of this model of support.
