Overview

Sandra Gendera, Research Associate SPRC (BA Social Sciences, MA Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna), has extensive research experience in various social policy fields including immigration research, informal caring and mental health. In her master’s thesis she examined the changing nature of informal care provision in a transnational context using participatory research methods. Sandra has strong qualitative research skills. She is experienced in conducting and analysing in-depth interviews and focus groups with vulnerable groups such as undocumented migrant carers, sex workers and young people experiencing mental health issues. Currently she is working on two research projects commissioned by the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). The projects are looking at the experiences of irregular migrants in detention and community detention.
