Overview

Jane Bullen, BA (Hons), completed her PhD at UTS, in 2010. Jane’s PhD topic was ‘Governing homelessness: the discursive and institutional construction of homelessness in Australia’, and her primary areas of research interest are homelessness and housing policies and services. Jane has extensive experience working in homelessness policy and program areas in both government and non-government organisations in the ACT, NSW and Victoria, in particular in the areas of youth homelessness, homelessness and mental illness; domestic violence and trauma; women’s homelessness; and homelessness prevention and early intervention. This experience includes managing a NSW service for vulnerable homeless women who had experienced child abuse (1998-2006). Jane’s recent research experience includes evaluations of an innovative employment program for ex-offenders and of the NSW Mental Health Housing and Support Initiative (HASI). She is currently involved in an evaluation of the Elizabeth St Common Ground Supportive Housing Project in Victoria.
